EDEN ISLE – Caye Caulker, Belize District
This parcel of land lies adjacent to the Caye Caulker airstrip and the Nature Reserve. While the Caye Caulker Airstrip is not currently very active, as flights only land if there are passengers to pick up or drop off, this lot is still probably most suitable for commercial purposes due to its size and location.
South of the Caye Caulker airstrip is the widest area of the island, yet it is still currently without connection to the main utility services available in the village center. People who invest in this area are typically those who are into an eco-friendly way of life and are self sufficient, using solar power and rain water cisterns to provide electricity and water for themselves. Eventually utilities will get here, as with real estate North of the Split, however, there is no telling when. After all, the island’s motto is ‘Go Slow’, so keep this in mind when investing anywhere on the island.
Paying attention to the island’s development trends helps in pointing buyers in the right direction, hinting at which area is in an upswing. The Caye Caulker airstrip recently went through some renovations and upgrades. The private subdivision of Eden Isle has also been working on roads and maintaining a temporary pathway that crosses on the western most tip of the airstrip, providing easy access to the village center – a short 20 minute bicycle or golf cart ride away. As the momentum in this area grows, so will property values, albeit still on island time.
